July is vacation season in Norway

After a hectic past six months working hard on the MONET (Modernizing of Network) using IaC (Infrastructures as Code) for Sykehuspartner HF and at the same time balancing N0R5KE COMMUNICATION SERVICES AS and N0R5KE FIBRE AS, I believe I deserved some time off even if there is no such thing with all these activities going on.

With N0R5KE COMMUNICATION SERVICES AS we keep on delivering secure and scaleable WiFi solutions based on an automated wholesale model for the best og our direct customers and their users. We have also investigated more into scalable secure Baremetal for smaller datacenter setup. We do believe there is a future in the compute setup from 1-10MW and that we have many locations for in Norway. We also have a fiber network in the family of companies so.. 😉

N0R5KE FIBRE AS has been an adventure and a bumpy ride with the capital needs that are a very important part of this long view business. We have as you can read from earlier posts here done the firt part and have a solid company up and running. The past year we have been working with different investment groups to move to the next level and fulfill what we started, build an open dark fiber transport ring network in Norway. The business idea is to be able to give the market a neutral operator that also solve the redundancy and diversified route alternatives that is a must in the digital area. We are getting there, though slowly IMHO, but that is just my personality 😉

Some views from taking time of in my home country Norway

N0R5KE FIBRE AS

This “small” company that my brother Anders and I started some years ago has grown to be an important part of the Norwegian digital transport infrastructure. The first 810 kilometers of dark fiber buildout has now been in operations for a while. The customer feedback is all good and many support our future plans for the next 1700 kilometers.

Interesting times in the global finance markets have been challenging and we have spent a lot of time talking to different financial partners to be part of the next buildout. Time will show who will be part of the next adventure. Stay tuned!

The below image gives an idea and some more background on why N0R5KE FIBRE AS are talking to industrial partners. The growth in data processing and buildout of the datacenter marked together with many years of small interest within investments in transport networks in Norway.

I am a true believer in digital physical infrastructure and have been walking the talk for a while 😉

Important milestone and outside attention for a project I am part off (MONET)

The last couple of weeks the project (MONET) I am managing in Sykehuspartner HF reached a milestone where we now have implemented full software driven network (IaC) in the data centers used to deliver health services for Helse Sør-Øst RHF. The small celebration of the milestone has been “advertised” on LinkedIn

An other great achievement for the project is for the NOA (Network Orchestration Automation) team and the acknowledgement by Cisco Live EMEA that what we do is forward thinking and outstanding in this industry. A picture from the event and my post on LinkedIn

All in all a couple of interesting weeks 😉

Dark fiber transport network in Norway 🇳🇴

The Norwegian company N0R5KE FIBRE AS has for some time invested, built and operated a dark fiber network on the west coast of Norway. The network is 810 kilometer long and built to scale the marked and to open up for a redundant and diversified route to existing infrastructure. The network named N0R5KE VIKING I is the first part of a ring that the company has been working on. The next part that is a combination of subsea cable and land will when finished be a 2500 kilometer ring. The fiber ring will connect to all major data center locations in Norway and is the only infrastructure that is fully neutral in this segment of dark fiber transport networks. This has been the intention from the founders and owners since day one.

The images below show at I high level the fiber route and the connectivity possibilities going out of Norway. The next picture covers some of the reasons why there is so much activity in the data center space in Norway.

Network Operations Center (NOC)

I have been looking into how the technical operation world has been developing since I was deep into it all soon now 20 years back. The amazing part is that not much has changed since I developed OSS (Operation System Support) systems to actually help in the day to day fault handling and to give the right picture of the health of systems and networks serving customers.

Initiatives like the Telecom Infra Project (TIP) gives and insight into how one can organize the operational part of running and managing networks and systems. All based on common sense and experience from tested processes. A great playbook on can be found here NOC playbook

Scandinavia “groupe”

We have started the work on bringing together a group of people that I have known for many years via different “projects”. They all have different skills that I believe might come in handy when we look closer into what is out there in the need for businesses to think and act differently and want to have a helping hand. We are definitely a group that sees opportunities and have all made a difference in life and business.

Whitewater Reinventions

I had the pleasure to host a three day visit in Oslo Norway from my colleagues in WhitewaterTX. First of all it was great to meet in person to get to know each other even better. During the visit I introduced them to potential sectors and clients that go through major transformation and have chosen a strategy they follow. It was very interesting to listen and learn from Adam Salzer and Niël Malan when engaging with different prospects.

The other part of this visit was for my colleagues to get an understanding of Norway and also the Scandinavian business approach. Meeting new potential international experts (IE´s) was also on the agenda since the model of Whitewater is to be connected in large business network and take part when free time can be spent on reinvention’s for companies.

It is going to be interesting to see what the next phases will give on these initiatives.

2024

The new year has just begun and the first week has gone into history. Really looking forward to this year with several oportunities that I will focus on. Hopefully this year will be like the “clean” track I met this morning on my cross country ski tour. It is always “easier” with downhill than uphill so this year I am focused on having the advantage of the downhill-momentum.

When looking at all the activities that are planned and ongoing where I have different roles it all looks exciting. Like what is going on in N0R5KE COMMUNICATION SERVICES AS and N0R5KE FIBRE AS. The first where we now after a long R&D periode are ready to launch our secure bare metal service alongside our already existing secure wifi solution. In N0R5KE FIBRE AS there are activities in the market to get more investors in and build the next phase we have been planing for a while. Exiting times ahead for both of these companies where my role is more and more as a board member. The “guys” are doing a great job on growing both these companies.

For my self I have entered a role in Sykehuspartner HF as a senior advisor. Looking at all the different projects that currently are being executed there and to be so lucky to be part of using my long experience in aiding to fulfill the strategy and vision this company has chose makes me 🙂.

The later activities WhitewaterTX and my small role in this very interesting company working on aiding companies across the world execute on decided strategies where the key is working on the: single point of truth!
